How does a therapeutic parent help a child to be successful?
- By providing a safe, predictable, structured
home environment;
- Setting clear, reasonable limits & follows
through with consequences – good and bad;
- Acting as a healthy role model, mentoring to
the child;
- Teaching new attitudes and behaviors to replace
the old;
- Listening to the child with an open mind and
compassionate heart;
- Advocating for the child in school, the community,
etc;
- Providing new experiences and opportunities for
physical/emotional/spiritual growth;
- Recognizing & rewarding the child for being
successful; praising a child for being good!
- Making the child feel secure, valued, and appreciated;

worth and potential can make all the difference!
